CREATIVITY, INNOVATION AND CULTURE
I am an internationally-minded and visionary educator with over sixteen years of experience in IBO World and British International Schools in Thailand and Singapore. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be in a position to inspire a passion for innovation and creativity in young people and I draw enormous satisfaction sharing my expertise and skills with others. I thrive in school communities where personalised learning, creativity and cultural perspectives are nurtured and where I can work alongside others who share the same excitement for learning. This portfolio presents a selection of my work in schools and documents initiatives I have introduced that empower student agency, creativity and expression.
Leading Digital Learning
I have worked as a technology integration and media specialist for the past decade in a variety of international contexts. Through meticulous research, I ensure that teaching and learning is pedagogically drive, as opposed to an emphasis on digital tools. Culture is in continuous flux but in recent years the digital landscape has had a profound effect on society, and so I believe we must teach students to be both critical consumers and authors of multimedia content so that they can make informed and critical decisions about their lives and how they relate to others.

Across Asia Youth Film Festival
In 2016 I founded the Across Asia Youth Film Festival at Tanglin Trust School, Singapore to celebrate creativity and risk taking through independent filmmaking. The festival has become a major international event for student filmmakers in the region and has so far attracted over 1000 submissions from 80 schools from fourteen Asian countries. The festival’s industry day, introduced in the second edition gave shortlisted filmmakers a chance to attend behind the scenes workshops hosted by Industrial, Light & Magic, Disney, Mediacorp and HBO. After Singapore and Vietnam, the fourth edition of the festival #AAYFF2020 will be hosted from Hong Kong later this year.

Award-winning photographer and filmmaker
As an active filmmaker and award-winning photographer, I have a particular interest in celebrating human values and culture through my work. I draw on these skills in the classroom and in doing so, I am able to bridge the critical space between the classroom and professional practices, which has proved highly effective in terms of teaching and learning. I am also regularly commissioned by schools and organisations to produce films and photographs for publicity and editorial campaigns. My personal work has been published in a host of magazines, as well as used for advertising, television and theatre. In 2017, I won the British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Britain with my portrait of ‘Samuel as Margaret’ which was exhibited on JCDecaux screens throughout the United Kingdom to an estimated 30 million people.
